{"id":3155,"date":"2019-11-13T12:02:04","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T11:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.estri.fr\/?page_id=3155"},"modified":"2019-12-03T17:08:29","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T16:08:29","slug":"our-history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.estri.fr\/en\/our-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Our history"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-video js-fade-scroll\">\n  <div class=\"plyr__video-embed js-player\">\n    <iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qWz6roposc4?origin=https:\/\/plyr.io&amp;iv_load_policy=3&amp;modestbranding=1&amp;playsinline=1&amp;showinfo=0&amp;rel=0&amp;enablejsapi=1\" allowfullscreen allowtransparency allow=\"autoplay\" poster=\"\" ratio=\"4:3\"><\/iframe>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1875: Creation of UCLy (Lyon Catholic University), with a Faculty of Law<\/h4><p>Following the promulgation of the law on the freedom of higher education (12 July 1875), a group of Lyon citizens decided to create a Catholic university under the protection of the central-eastern diocesan&nbsp;bishops. <\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1877: Establishment of the Faculties of Arts and Sciences<\/h4><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1968: Creation of ESTRI<\/h4><p>Created as \"ESST\" by Father Marius Perrin, linguist, Doctor of State of Letters, the School's stated purpose is to meet the needs of translation and international business relations within the framework of the Common Market. <\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1974: Agreement with the <em>Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re Lyon<\/em><\/h4><p>This agreement allows ESTRI students to prepare a <em>DEUG d'anglais LLCE<\/em> in parallel.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1981: Evolution towards the undergraduate degree.<\/h4><p>The programme became more professional when the end-of-studies language stay was replaced by a specific semester of training on international exchanges, completed by a six-month full-time internship in a company, organisation or translation agency in Germany, Spain or Italy.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1986: The School obtained the label \"School recognised by the State\".<\/h4><p>ESTRI is a state-recognized technical higher education institution.<br>The label \"School recognized by the State\" was published in the J.O. (French Official Gazette) of 26\/08\/1986.<br>\"State recognition is a label conferred by the Minister for Higher Education. It certifies that an establishment offers sufficient conditions for the implementation of training. It controls the functioning of the school, its programmes and its supervisory and teaching staffs. Recognition by the State gives the right to receive scholarships, secondment of teachers from the public sector or to apply for operating grants from the public authorities.\"<br> Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.education.gouv.fr\">www.education.gouv.fr<\/a><\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1995: Evolution of the programme and increase in staff<\/h4><p>A first year of study replaces the initial one-year linguistic stay: a first semester of <em>prop\u00e9deutique <\/em>is created, followed by an original eight-month internship in the Anglo-Saxon country. <\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2001: Name change<\/h4><p>Under the impetus of its third Director, Patrice Carlen-Helmer, ESST becomes ESTRI, Ecole Sup\u00e9rieure de Traduction et Relations Internationales. This new name corresponds to the new career prospects after the studies at ESTRI. <\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2001: Creation of the CPO (Development and Orientation Council)<\/h4><p>This Council brings professionals of International Relations and Translation into the school. <\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2002: Restructuring of the programme according to the European standards of the LMD Reform (Bachelor-Master-phD)<\/h4><p>ESTRI restructures its study programme in order to comply with the new European standards of the LMD but also for its students to reach, if they wish, the graduate degree currently required to become international relations executives or professional translators.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2002: Re-orientation of the programme<\/h4><p>The integrated <em>DEUG LLCE<\/em> is replaced by a LEA (Applied Foreign Languages) degree more in line with the programme provided and better suited to the new career prospects: a new agreement is signed with the <em>University Lumi\u00e8re Lyon 2<\/em>.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2003: Opening to China<\/h4><p><em>Lancement de la formation aux relations franco-chinoises qui,  par le fait m\u00eame, donne \u00e0 la langue chinoise le statut de langue de travail. <\/em><\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2005: ESTRI moves to the new campus of Ucly, \"Carnot campus\"<\/h4><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2006: Opening of graduate degree programmes<\/h4><p>ESTRI offers two graduate programmes:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Intercultural management, Communication and Events<\/li><li>Specialized translation and Liaison interpretation<\/li><\/ul><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2008: 40th anniversary of ESTRI<\/h4><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2009: Creation of the 3P, Personalized Professional Project, coaching scenario for internships and professional integration<\/h4><p>Under the impetus of its new Director, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Rodenas, Doctor of Iberian Studies, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, 3P has been implemented for all the programmes. The 3P is a pedagogical scenario to help students with orientation and professional integration. <\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2010: Creation of the ESTRI Careers Club<\/h4><p>ESTRI creates the \"ESTRI Careers Club\" to develop and consolidate its professional network<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2013: Registration of the two graduate programmes at level I of RNCP<\/h4><p>Registration at level I RNCP (French CNCP) for graduate programmes in :<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Intercultural management, Communication and Events<\/li><li>Specialized translation and Liaison interpretation<\/li><\/ul><p>This registration at the RNCP is equivalent to recognition by the State of ESTRI's two graduate programmes. <br>Registration in the National Register of Professional Certifications at level I (decree of 12 August 2013 published in the Official Journal of 27 August 2013). <\/p><p><\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2016: Creation of the ESTRI Training pole<\/h4><p>The Training pole offers language training on specific objectives for internal (UCLy) and external partners.
